Two local artists have been nominated for a prestigious prize in Jamaica. Both Buffalo Souljah, based in South Africa, and Winky D, have been nominated for the Abuja reggae dancehall award for the Best Dancehall Reggae Act.
The nomination has been hailed by their fans as a positive development for both artists.
The news was announced on his social media pages by Buffalo Souljah. “He wrote, “Family Yo, more blessings. We have been nominated for de so enuh @raypowerabuja by Nigeria. One of the most prominent Zimbabwean artists is Buffalo Souljah. He managed to make huge inroads into the industry of dancehall entertainment. In South Africa, where he is based, he also managed to make it big. Buffalo has worked with a number of big names both locally and abroad. He is also the brain behind a number of artists, such as Queen Vee.
Winky D is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after artists in the country. With songs like Rokesheni and Musarove Bigman, he rose to fame. Over the years, he has remained consistent, dishing out hit songs and rolling the charts. His lyrical flow and melodic voice earned him so much respect in the music industry. Winky D has worked with a number of artists, including Buffalo Souljah.
Winky D has also won many awards at both local and international level. His last album, Njema, was a success. Both bands, including Nigeria and South Africa, will fight it out with many other artists from all over Africa.
