Nipsey Hussle will be recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Even in his absence, Nipsey Hussle’s contributions to the entertainment business are being recognized.

The Grammy-winning emcee will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in his honor. The announcement coincided with the unveiling of all 38 members of the 2021 Walk of Fame class.

Per the list, Nipsey is one of two people who will be honored posthumously. Nearly five years after she passed away from cardiac arrest, legendary actress Carrie Fisher will also receive a star. Michael B. Jordan, Regina King and Tessa Thompson are among the actors who be recognized, and DJ Khaled and the Black Eyed Peas — who are listed in the recording category — will soon be able to unveil their prestigious stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Also included in the list of recipients are Tracee Ellis Ross, Kenan Thompson, Byron Allen and Holly Robinson — all of whom are in the television category. Michael Strahan will be honored for his work in the sports entertainment world.

Though all artists are worthy of the recognition, Nipsey’s forthcoming honor hits a soft spot in the hearts of many fans considering the way he lost his life. The Victory Lap star was gunned down in front of his Marathon Clothing Store, which he opened with hopes to better his community.

The store has since partnered with Puma to ensure that they honor his legacy with their various merchandise drops. Lauren London — who recently gained the courage to return to acting — has also worked alongside the Puma brand to pay homage to her late partner. Per her Instagram page, a new capsule from her “Forever Stronger” campaign will release on June 25.

Nip’s legacy lives through his music as well. In recent months, he appeared on JORDIMaroon 5’s album, and the soundtrack for Ryan Coogler’s Judas And The Black Messiah.
